This fridge is loaded with these, from an inside-the-door Keurig K-cup coffee maker to a clever water dispenser. But these flourishes don't mask mediocre performance, especially in the refrigerator's freezer and an ineffective temperature-controlled drawer. This fridge is expensive and I expected more. Apart from that minor flaw however, this refrigerator is a fantastic choice. It features a large freezer compartment which is uncommon for counter-depth French door fridges. It also holds a lot of frozen food items compared to other models. The fridge has 17 shelves and compartments. The refrigerator compartment has 18.5 cubic feet of space, which is about what you would expect from a French door fridge costing this much. It also has a decent-sized icemaker in the left-hand door, although it isn't the largest I've seen. You can adjust the shelves in both compartments to create customized storage arrangement for what you want to store. The GE PYE22PYNFS's design for the interior is stylish, too. Its LED lighting is a nice addition, and the in-door storage bins come with a third shelf that folds up beneath itself to allow you to store items that are tall. The drawers come with temperature controls so you can set them to Beverage, Meat, or Deli settings. The drawers are easy to shut and open however I found the plastic's textured coatings a bit hard on my fingers. The GE PGE29BYTFS Smart Refrigerator has all the features you would expect from a refrigerator within this price range. This includes Wi-Fi as well as app support and GE's SmartHQ Software. The app is compatible with iOS and Android devices and allows you to control your refrigerator from anywhere around the world. It also offers numerous options for customizing. It will also send notifications when the door is unlocked, when the fridge or freezer must be defrosted and when the filter requires a change. It is nice if the GE PYE22PYNFS came with Precise Fill, an option available in a handful of other GE fridges that allows you to preset how many cups of water you'd like to disperse at once. The fridge displays a countdown to reveal how much water is left, but it's not as useful as Precise fill. Inside, the fridge has an ordinary French-door design with gallon-sized door bins at each door as well as two rows of shelves that capture spills and a set more spacious drawers. The top shelf to the right can be folded to provide more space for tall items. There's also a full-width drawer for deli items and an internal water dispenser. One of the great aspects of this refrigerator is that the ice maker is in the freezer, making it easy to transfer frozen ice to the fridge to be used when it is needed. The freezer also has clever design features, such as sliding drawers that can help you organize your items. It also has a large container for storing frozen food and a separate one for ice. Frigidaire Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator This Frigidaire French door refrigerator is a great choice for those looking for a French-door fridge that doesn't break the budget. It's a minimalist design that's not as striking visually like some of the competitors, but it has enough features that make it a great option. Its most notable characteristic is the adjustable temperature drawer which helps keep food items like veggies and meat fresher for longer. It also comes with a large ice maker as well as a water dispenser. The “Chill Drawer”, which sits over the two crisper bins, is another great feature. The drawer allows you to divert a portion of the refrigerator's cooling power directly into this area, which means you can put away food items that require special attention. This feature can be adjusted by using a slider on the outside of the drawer. You can also use this to adjust the general cooling settings for the entire fridge though I've found that adjusting the general settings tends to produce better results than specific ones. In my tests, the temperature of the refrigerator were fairly consistent across all areas of the refrigerator. The temperatures in the top and bottom of the fridge didn't vary very far from 38 degrees, and even the middle of the fridge was within one degree of 36. This is a pretty good performance, but it doesn't quite make it into the top ten in our rankings. This fridge has a few other neat features, including a temperature-monitoring display that alerts you to fluctuations and provides a forecast for the day ahead.
